Abstract

Based on the determination of the clone timber basic density and the growth characters of open-pollinated progenies in 11-year-old Pinus massoniana seed orchard, the results indicated that there were great significant difference between clones in basic density and between families in tree height,DBH and individual volume increment, respectively, which showed high heritability. The 10 selected clones with high quality and fast growth had basic timber density 0.5443 g·cm-3,average tree height of its progenies 11.80 m,average DBH of its progenies 14.93 m and individual volume of its progenies 0.1011 m3.Compared with the population average value, their genetic gains were 8.7%,1.8%,3.6% and 8.4%,respectively.These clones have good extension prospect in forestry product.
