Abstract

Objective This study was aimed to explore the expression significance of apoptosis related gene PDCD5 and Caspase-3mRNA in MM.Methods Real-time polymerase chain reaction(Real time PCR) was used to detect mRNA of PDCD5 and Caspase-3 in 40 cases of MM.Results The expression of PDCD5 and Caspase-3 in patients with newly diagnosed and relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma was much lower than that in normal control and in patients reached plateau stage(P0.05).There was no statistically significant difference between newly diagnosed and relapsed/refractory patients(P0.05).The expressions of PDCD5 and Caspase-3 mRNA were related to stage of disease and β2-MG level(r=-0.86,P0.05).Conclusion It is concluded that the expression of PDCD5 and Caspase-3 in patients with MM is low, which maybe an important factor for the pathogenesis of MM.PDCD5 and Caspase-3 can be as the indicators for predicting prognosis of MM.
