Abstract

Objective To study the relation between ApoE gene polymorphisms and the plasma lipids in hyperlipemia patients. Methods Polymorphism of ApoE gene was detected by DNA sequencing in 212 hyperlipemia patients(hyperlipemia group) and 100 healthy cases(control group) and the plasma lipids were also measured in the two groups. The relationship between them was then analyzed. Results E2/2,E3/3,E4/4,E2/3,E2/4 and E3/4 were detected in the two groups. The frequencies of genotype E3/3 and e3 allele were lower in hyperlipemia patients than that in control cases. But the frequencies of genotype E3/4 and e4 allele were higher(P0.01).The hyperlipemia patients with the E3/4 and E4/4 at ApoE gene polymorphism had higher total cholesterol and low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C) than patients with E3/3 and E2/2+E2/3(P0.05).While the high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C) level in patients with E3/4 and E4/4 was lower than that in patients with E2/2+E2/3,and the level of LDL-C in patients with E3/3 was higher than that of patients with E2/2+E2/3. Conclusion ApoE gene polymorphism may be related to hyperlipemia. The presence of e4 allele is possibly associated with lipids metabolism disorder.
