Abstract

There is an obvious divergence between the traditional micro and macro sociological theories. They use their own words and couldn't agree on interpreting the shared social phenomena. The disorder of sociological knowledge becomes more and more serious and the sociological theory is also in crisis and difficulty, which are detrimental to the perfection and development of sociological theory. In order to get a perfect system of sociological theory and solve the current crisis and difficulty of sociological theory, many scholars have devoted to eliminating the divergence of the two theories. Among them were Giddens and Collins. Giddens presents the theory of structuration, using the duality of the structure to replace the dualism of the structure. With this, he wanted to eliminate the divergence of micro and macro sociological theories from the of the micro individuals and through the interaction ritual chains. Collins wanted to build a bridge between the two theories. The efforts of the two scholars have made a big contribution for the alleviation of the divergence of the two theories and for the synthesized development of sociological theory.
