Abstract
To reconcile the dualism—between self and society, subjectivity and objectivity, action and structure,as well as micro and macro—is taken by Anthony Giddens as the basis of reconstructing the sociological theory.According to his famous Structuration Theory,Giddens puts forward that the classic action/structure dualism has to be re-conceptualized as a duality-the duality of structure. Moreover,in order to realize the objective of reconciling the dualism,he resorts to three important concepts:unintended consequences of intentional action, social and system integration as well as institutional analysis and strategic-move analysis.
