Abstract

As the rapid development of Guangdong economy, the pollution level has the trend of rise and the pressure of environmental protection is heavier. Thus,to realize the harmonious development of economic development and environmental protection,it is necessary to understand the complicated interaction of industrial characteristics, environmental regulation and air pollution. The paper uses the data of 15 industries in the period of 2000—2006 to investigate the factors that influence the industrial pollution intensity. The result is that, the relationship between pollution intensity and energy use, physical capital intensity and human capital intensity is positive, and the relationship between pollution intensity and enterprise efficiency, firm size and RD is positive. While pollution intensity and capital expenditure is negative, but not statistically significant.Besides, the paper investigates the impact of formal and informal regulation on pollution emission.
