Diagnosis and treatment for gouty arthritis of knee joint under arthroscopy

[Objective] To investigate the accuracy of diagnosis and therapeutic effect of arthroscopy for gouty arthritis of knee.[Method] 17 cases of gouty arthritis affecting knee joint who received joint debridement under arthroscopy were chosen.Then the patients were given a postoperative systematic drug therapy and early functional exercise.[Result] All the patients were followed up with an average of 13.2 months(from 6 to 24) with no recurrence when latest follow-up.According to the Lysholm knee joint grading method,before the operation,the patient function grading average 43.2 points;6 month postoperative reexamination grading average 87.4 points;Using pair T-test,the curative effect difference has the significance(P 0.05).[Conclusion] The accuracy of diagnosis of gouty arthritis especially in knee,ankle and other big joints with low blood uric acid level will keep on rising strikingly under arthroscopy.Simultaneously joint debridement and synovectomy is a new treatment for gouty arthritis with immediate and obvious effect and minimal invasion.
