Abstract
Distributed generation(DG) will own more shares in the near future under fair competitive electricity market,because of the following advantages of saving investment,flexibility and environmental compatibility. The interconnection of DG will have great impact on traditional power systems. This paper puts forward the concepts of the distributed generation and its prominent advantages against the conventional centralized electric power system,introduces some kinds of distributed generation technologies,and analyzes the impacts of distributed generation on the existing power systems. It is pointed out that when the penetration level of distributed generation increases,the impacts of DG are no longer restricted to the distribution network but starts to influence the dynamic behavior of the power system as a whole.
