Research on the Constructing Method of Ontology in Semantic Web

Abstract

The central role of ontology in the semantic web is pointed out by analyzing the semantic web architecture.Firstly,a method for visually representing ontology with UML and constructing ontology based on OWL is proposed.Secondly,some heuristic rules are put forward when transformations are made from UML diagram to OWL.Thirdly,some criterions for ontology evaluation are also discussed.Finally,the method is used to construct the course selection ontology.The method provides the feasibility for knowledge representation and rule-based inference in semantic web.
