Abstract

The acidic compound disinfectant contains peracetic acid and hydrogen peroxide as the main germicidal ingredients. In order to observe its germicidal efficacy and toxicity, suspension quantitative germicidal test and animal test method were used to carry out laboratory study. Results: The killing logarithm values of Escherichia coli,Staphylococcus aureus,Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Candida albicans in suspension exposed to the compound disinfectant solution containing hydrogen peroxide 300 mg/L and peracetic acid 50 mg/L for 2.5 min were 5.00 and that of spores of Bacillus subtilis var.niger in suspension exposed to the compound disinfectant solution containing hydrogen peroxide 12 g/L and peracetic acid 2 g/L for 5.0 min was 5.00.The mouse acute oral toxicity of the disinfectant was LD_(50)5000 mg/kg(bw),belonging to non-toxic class. The result of mouse bone marrow erythrocyte micronucleus test was negative. The compound disinfectant solution containing hydrogen peroxide 300 mg/L and peracetic acid 50 mg/L was non-irritating to rabbit skin. Conclusion: The acidic compound disinfectant has excellent efficacy in killing vegetative form and spore of bacteria and belongs to non-toxic substance.
