Abstract
Objective: The aim of this study was to identify the effects of a compound with free bone periosteum-bone marrow mononuclear cells(BM-MNCs),and nano-HA in guided bone regeneration(GBR).Methods: Eighteen white rabbits were randomly and equally divided into 3 groups. In each rabbit,a 10 mm×8 mm bone defect was created in both sides of the mandible. In group A,bone defects were restored with free periosteum-bone,BM-MNCs,HA;in group B,defects were repaired with free periosteum-bone,HA;in group C,only nano-HA were applied.2 rabbits in each group were sacrificed at 4,8 and 12 weeks after operation.Specimen were examined by gross examination, radiographic examination, scanning electron microscopy, and histology observation. Results: Comparison between group A and group B,C,the significant difference of bone mineral density values(P0.05) manifested at 4,8 and 12 weeks after restoration.Under electron microscopy, the newly formed bone showed close integration and structural similarities with the surrounding bone.Histological observation showed that most restoration materials in group A was degraded,a large number of mature bone formation, less material wrapped in which indicated a better result than other groups. Conclusion: The free bone periosteum-bone marrow mononuclear cells cement HA has a significant osteogenic competence. It can efficiently repair bone defects.
