Abstract
Mammalian sexual development is characterized by three distinct, sequential events: the establishment of sex chromosomal at fertilization (XY,XX) ; gonadal development and differentiation (testis or ovary) , and finally, the acquisition of the proper sexual phenotype (male or female) . It' s found that testis determining factor (TDF) is sex determining region on Y chromosome (SRY), and some sex determining genes are identified involved in sex determination or sex reversal, such as SOX9, DAX1, SF1, WT1, GATA - 4 and so on. The research progress and future perspectives of sex determining gene in mammalian animals were reviewed.
