Abstract

Over the period after the 1990s,when China has undergone profound historical and social changes, the literary works on the theme of revolutionary history that has witnessed ups and downs for more than half a century have reappeared clearly in the cultural field via the non-paper medium—the text of TV dramas, forming an unavoidable phenomenon in the contemporary literature and arts. The TV dramas, living and developing in the conspiracies, conflicts and reconciliations between the politico-ideological and the consumerist discourses, bear the characteristics of the new historical period and differ from their predecessors not only in their understandings of the themes and narrative strategies but also in the genres of the text and the development strategies. They are the revolutionary discourse reconstructed and re-narrated in the contemporary context.
