A structural analysis to the urban system of Xuzhou metropolitan area

Based on statistical data in 2005,this paper analyzes the urban system structure of Xuzhou Metropolitan Areas from the perspective of scale structure,spatial structure and functional structure using Fractal Theory and GIS.The result indicates that there is an obvious hierarchical structure in Xuzhou Metropolitan Areas,high in urban primacy index;the development of small cities is lagged;distribution of towns are extended like a belt;its spatial structure presents a typical dual-nuclei structure;its function structure is single,and convergent in types;the proportion of resources-based cities is big,belonging to mining-oriented type urban system.Finally,some counter-measures and suggestions are proposed for improving urban system structure of Xuzhou Metropolitan Areas.
