Expression of VEGF and HIF-1α in Prostate Adenocarcinoma and their Significance

Objective To investigate the expression of VEGF and HIF-1α in different prostate diseases and their clinical significance.Methods The expression of VEGF and HIF-1α was both tested on prostatic hyperplasia(30 cases),prostatic intraepithelial neoplasm(30 cases) and adenocarcinoma of prostate(70 cases) by immunohistochemisty.Results The positive rates of VEGF and HIF-1α in adenocarcinoma of prostate were higher than those in prostatic hyperplasia and prostatic intraepithelial neoplasm;the statistical difference was significant(P0.01).The expression of VEGF and HIF-1α was related to Gleason grade,clinical stage,bone metastasis and lymphatic metastasis(P0.05).The over-expression of VEGF and HIF-1α in prostate adenocarcinoma showed positive relationship between them(r=0.63,P0.01).Conclusion VEGF and HIF-1α play an important role in the occurrence and development of prostate adenocarcinoma,and they would provide valuable information to make the prognosis of prostate adenocarcinoma.
