Abstract
The color reaction of 2-(2-thiazolylazo)-5-sulfopropylaminophenol(TASPAP) with nickel(Ⅱ) was studied in aqueous solution.It was found that TASPAP could react with Ni2+ to form a stable purple complex(2∶1) in Clark-Lubs buffer solution at pH 6.4.The maximum absorption peak(λmax) was at 550 nm.Beer's law was obeyed for Ni2+ in the range of 0-14 μg in 10 mL of solution.The apparent molar absorptivity(e550) was 6.346×104L·mol-1·cm-1.This method was applied to the direct determination of nickel in alloy steel and water samples.The recoveries were in the range of 98 %-101 %.
