Abstract

A method for the determination of trace cadmium in water by flame atomic absorption spectrometry with cloud point extraction was developed.The effect of experimental conditions such as pH and concentration of reagents on cloud point extraction was optimized.Under the optimum conditions,the detection limit of cadmium was 0.238 μg/L and the enhancement factor was 55-fold for cadmium.The method has been applied to the determination of cadmium in water samples with satisfactory recoveries ranging from 98% to 102%.
