Abstract

Cloud-Point Extraction for determination of trace amounts of cadmium(Cd) in water sample by flame atomic absorption spectrometry was studied. It was based on cloud-point extraction of cadmium using 1-(2-pyridylazo)-2-naphthol(PAN) as complex and using Triton X-100 as surfactant. The factors affecting cloud-point extraction was discussed such as complex concentration, solution pH,buffer concentration, concentration and volume of surfactant, equilibrium temperature and time and centrifugation time after adding surfactant. The procedure was used for determination of traces of cadmium in tap water, lake water and rain,it was lowtoxic, high efficiency, safe, handy, etc.
