Observation of Huoxue Tuihuang decoction combined with plasma exchange for the treatment of severe hepatitis

Objective To observe the effect of Huoxue Tuihuang decoction combined with plasma exchange for the treatment of severe hepatitis. Methods 120 patients with severe hepatitis were randomly divided into two groups. Patients in two groups are the basis of conventional therapy, cases in the control group (n=60) treated by plasma exchange treatment, patients in the treatment group were treated by oral Huoxue Tuihuang decoction. A therapeutic course was four weeks in two groups. The clinical efficacy after a course and the main indicators of liver function were observed before and after treatment. Results The total effective rate in treatment group (91.67%) was higher than that in control group (75.00%, P0.05). There were significant differences between before and after treatment on TBiL, ALT, AST, TC and TT in two groups (P0.05). There was difference between two groups on TBiL, ALT, AST, TC and TT after treatment (P0.05). The improvement of liver function in treatment group was superior to that in control group. Conclusion Huoxue Tuihuang decoction combined with plasma exchange has definite effect on the treatment of severe hepatitis.
