Abstract

The ecological footprint method is the biophysical assessment method of the human appropriation of ecological capacity,for measuring the ecological imperative of sustainability.This paper described the methodology for predicting ecological footprint,and calculated the ecological footprint and ecological capacity of Xinjiang from 1998 to 2007.The results showed that the ecological footprint is bigger than the ecological capacity now,so that Xinjiang was ecologically unsustainable.
