The Paragon of Intercultural Communication under the Circumstance of Cultural Exchange Surplus: A Communication Interpretation of Ge Kunhua

This article engages in a through analysis of the intercultural experience of Ge Kunhua, the first Chinese scholar teaching in the U.S during the late Qing Dynasty, from the perspective of communication. A full description is given of Ge Kunhua's unusual awareness of intercultural communication and successful experience under the circumstance of severe imbalance of cultural exchange, i.e., cultural exchange surplus, between China and the U.S. In_depth discussions center on Ge Kunhua's strategies and means of intercultural communication with a purpose to provide enlightenment and examples for current intercultural communication.
