Study on the avifauna and group diversity of the Qingxiling regions of Hebei

A survey of birds in the Qingxiling region of Hebei was conducted from 2000 to 2002. 239 species of birds belonging to 17 orders, 48 families were recorded during this period. Among these, 28 species are distributed in the Oriental realm, 147 species (61.51%) in the Palaeartic realm and 64 species (26.78%) are widely distributed. 73 species (30.54%) are summer breeders, 8 species (3.35%) are winter species, 142 species (59.41%) are transient migrants and 16 species (6.69%) are residents, which account for 51.96% of total species in Hebei province. There are 4 Categories I, Nationally Protected Species, 37 Category II Nationally Protected Species and 13 species with Hebei Provincial Protected status. The avifanua has obvious character of the Palaeartic realm.
