Abstract
Linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) grafted by anhydride (MAH) in a twin screw extruder with 1,1'-(1,1,2,2-tetranethyl-1,2-ethanediyl) bisbenzane (DMDPB) and dicumyl peroxide (DCP) as initiators was dealt with the resultant graft polymer was dissolved by dimethyl benzene and extracted by acetone.Infrared spectroscopy testify that MAH was grafted onto PE successfully under the initiation of the new initiator DMDPB.It is found that gel did not appear in the DMDPB initiated graft polymer.Advantages and disadvantages of the processability of the graft polymer were compared by melt flow rate, furthermore the two initiators were compared also. The degree of grafted MAH (Gx), gel fraction of crosslinked product and melt index was tested quantiatively by chemical experiments.
