Abstract

“Verb + directional verb” cannot be all simply analyzed as the relation of “focus + complement”.According to the collocational sense-relation with the object, some verbs show more the way of action than something else, and the directional verb is the center of predicate. Therefore,it is more appropriate to treat this structure as the relation of “adverbial + focus”.
