Expression of Livin in gastric cancer and its clinical significance

Abstract

Objective To detect the expression of Livin in the tissues of gastric cancer, and explore its roles in the carcinogenesis of gastric cancer. Methods The expression of Livin mRNA in 79 cases of gastric cancer, 30 cases of adjacent tissue normal tissue were detected by using RT-PCR (reverse-transeription PCR), and its relationship with clinical pathological features was analyzed. Results The expression of Livin mRNA in gastric cancer is much higher than in adjacent normal tissue(P0.01). The expression of Livin mRNA was significantly related with the tumor size, growth pattern,depth of invasion,lymph-node metastasis and TNM stage (P0.05). Conclusion The expression of Livin plays the important role in tumorigenesis of gastric cancer; may provide a newpathway with diagnosis and treatment of gastric cancer and become a new index to observe curative effect.
