Abstract
Objective To enhance the understanding and the diagnostic accuracy of pituitary stalk interruption syndrome by analyzing and summarizing the MRI features. Methods Retrospective analysis was performed according to the clinical and imaging data of 5 patients with pituitary stalk interruption syndrome. Results With MRI examination, the pituitary stalk were not shown in 4 cases, obviously thin pituitary stalk in 1 cases, ectopic posterior lobe and decreased anterior lobe in 5 cases. Growth retardation, lack of growth hormone and multiple adenohypophysial hormone was found in all cases. Conclusion MRI is the most important and the most direct method for the diagnosis of pituitary stalk interruption syndrome. PSIS has characteristic MRI manifestations which can be diagnosed definitely combined with clinical feature and laboratory examination.
