Abstract
Objective:To establish asthma model using Guinea pig to study the effects of Zhisoulixiao on airway allergic inflammation. Methods:Eosinophil(EOS) cell counts and interleukin-5(IT-5) content in blood and bronchial alveolar lavage fluid(BALF) were determined in Guinea pig with asthma after being infected with ovalbumin through gastritic injection at different dosages of Zhisoulixiao. Results:The EOS and IL-5 levels in blood and BALF in the asthma group were greater than those of the control group significantly(P0.01).Additionally,the EOS and IL-5 levels of Zhisoulixiao groups were lower than those of the asthma groups significantly(P0.01).Conclusion:Zhisoulixiao can inhibit the airway allergic inflammation of asthma animals and its mechanism seems to reduce EOS and IL-5 levels in blood and BALF.
