Researches on water resources and sustainable development of economic society in Shanxi Province

Based on the viewpoint of sustainable development, characteristics of the current water resources in Shanxi Province and regional development under the support of water resources, 3 factors: amount and development of water resources, regional development and ecological environment as well as 6 kinds of indices are chosen to analyze and evaluate the supporting capacity of water resources of districts in Shanxi Province, and the supporting capacity to its development of social economy is calculated and analyzed. It is concluded that compared with the mean amount of water resources in China, the coordination degree between the water resources and development of social economy in Shanxi Province is 0.23, indicating that its supporting capacity is lower than the mean one in China. Therefore, scientific development view should be highlighted, and scientific management, reasonable development and optimized configuration should be made to regional water resources so as to improve its sustainable utilization and ensure the sustainable development of economic society in Shanxi Province. Owing to the very low coordination degree between the water resources and social economy in Taiyuan, Datong and Yuncheng, the supporting capacity of water resources is insufficient, and it will have a direct impact on the sustainable development of social economy.
