Abstract
Shen Congwen shows solicitude for actual state, life form and spiritual dimensions of West Hunan populace’s existence in his creation and reveals anxiety for life change and perseverance in struggle in his description of hardships of social and human affairs. In his search for objective reality, he fuses spiritual patterns of ideal and illusion, creates special and real souls and thus produces warm affection and comfort of actual life meaning. His special duty to the man, his universal love and eternal pursuit of ideal spirit are embodied in the salvation and redemption of realistic reason, while his works’ “perfect reality” presents free idea of far reaching modern consciousness.
