Abstract

Marine microorganisms have been proved to be potential in producing novel bioactive substances.Marine-derived microorganisms are rich sources of bioactive compounds, and thus, have received extensive attention from marine research workers. In recent years, many new structurally-unique antitumor compounds have been isolated from marine-derived microorganisms. This article summarizes the research progress in antitumor metabolites from marine-derived microorganisms, including actinomycete, fungi and bacteria and explores its development prospects.
