Clinical application of capsular tension ring during phacoemulsification for subluxated lens with cataract

Objective To evaluate the efficiency of capsular tension ring implantation during phacoemulsification in the subluxated lens. Methods Capsular tension ring was implanted in 15 cases(15 eyes) of subluxated lens after continuous curvilinear capsulorrhexis during phacoemulsification.The capsular tension ring was necessary to be fixated on sclera if the luxated area was larger than half of acircle.After the ring was implanted,phacoemulsification was performed and foldable intraocular lens(IOL) was implanted. Results The capsular tension ring was successfully implanted in 15 eyes,including 13 IOLs fixated in the bag and 2 in ciliary sulcus.IOL positions were normal. Conclusions Capsular tension ring implantation is safe in the patient of lens subluxation during phacoemulsification.It can prevent the IOL decentration and decrease the vitreoretinal complication.
