Abstract

Objective To study the classification and diagnosis of TCM syndromes of lung cancer by using mathematical statistics of variable clustering analysis.Method The clinical materials, including symptoms, signs, and manifestations of tongue and pulse, were recorded in 350 patients with lung cancer by using epidemiological method, and then the materials were dealt with variable clustering analysis.Result The TCM syndromes in the patients were classified into 4 types, including the syndrome of turbid phlegm obstructing lung, syndrome of qi deficiency, syndrome of stagnated liver-qi transforming into fire, and syndrome of blood stasis blocking collaterals. The variable proportion was 71.58%,and main diagnostic points were determined for different syndromes initially. Conclusion The variable clustering analysis combined with expert`s opinion is helpful in the rational classification of TCM syndromes and initial research of main diagnostic points, which, meanwhile, provides theoretical foundation to a certain extent for the syndrome differentiation and treatment of lung cancer.
