On Dialectical Expressions of Functional Equivalence and Formal Equivalence in Translation

Abstract

After questioning Nida's translation theory: functional equivalence,the paper argues the text is closely related with the expression that shows different degrees of importance in different texts.The translator shall make decision and adopt relevant translation strategies between functional equivalence and formal equivalence according to different texts and translation purposes.
