Application of RAPD and Microsatellite Molecular Markers in the Research of Honey Bee(Apis mellifera)

Abstract

A linkage map was constructed for honey bee(Apis mellifera)based on the molecular markers of random amplified polymorphic DNA(RAPD).The loci for sex determination,black body color and malate dehydrogenase were mapped on linkage group Ⅲ,Ⅵ,ⅩⅧ,respectively.The quantitative trait loci influencing the amount of pollen stored in combs of honey bee colonies,honey bee alarm pheromone levels,honey bee stinging behavior and body size were identified,respectively.European honey bee(Apis mellifera L.)can be identified from African honey bee based on RAPD.Technology of microsatellite was applied in the research of honey bee behavior,origin,evolution and subfamily structure in one colony effectively.
