Abstract
Objective To analyze the intervention effect of folic acid and vitamin B on elderly hypertensive patients with elevated homocysteine(Hcy) . Methods Based on the 2010Chinese Hypertension Prevention Guide,we divided the 152 cases with hypertensive patients with elevated Hcy from a university community into intervention groups(95 cases) and control group (57 cases) . The intervention group was offered oral folic acid,B vitamins,as well as periodic review of Hcy; the control group had no supplemental folic acid and B vitamins being provided. In the meanwhile, both groups were given standardized antihypertensive drug for treatment. The change of serum Hcy in both group was detected and compared before and after treatment. Results After treatment, the serum Hcy level of the intervention group was lower than that before treatment and the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P 0. 05) . Before and after the treatment, the serum Hcy level of the control group had no change, and the difference was statistically significant (P 0. 05) . Conclusion The supplementation of Folic acid and B vitamins for elderly hypertensive patients with elevated homocysteine (Hcy) plays a positive role in the prevention of cardiovascular emergencies, their indicators are significantly improved after the intervention.
