Effects of folic acid and vitamin B12 and B6 on levels of Hcy and lipids in blood from patients with Alzheimer's disease

Abstract
Objects To observe the effects of folic acid and vitamin B12 and B6 on the levels of Hcy and blood lipids in Alzheimer's disease patients.Methods In this study,42 cases of patients with Alzheimer' s disease were selected.They were divided into intervention group(21 cases) and control group(21 cases) randomly.Regular treatment was conducted in both groups for 30 days,meanwhile,folic acid and Vitamin B12,B6 treatment for intervention group.Hcy,D-D,FIB,blood lipid levels and HDS evaluation of pre-treatment and post-treatment were compared between two groups.Results The levels of Hcy,TC,TG,LDL-C,LDL-V,D-D and FIB decreased more significantly in intervention group than in control group(all P 0.05).While the HDS evaluation showed better in intervention group after the intervention treatment(P 0.05).Conclusion This study suggests that treatment of folic acid and Vitamin B12 and B6 has the effects of decreasing Hcy and blood lipids levels in patients with Alzheimer's disease.
