Abstract

The study of modern Chinese characters started from the end of Qing Dynasty when the new search system of Chinese characters was created.The foundation of the science ofModern Chinese Charactersis marked by the publication ofThe Main Idea of Modern Chinese Characterswritten by Zhou You-guang in the second collection ofChinese Modernizationin May,1980.Modern Chinese characters are composed of characters used in modern Chinese language,i.e.in modern standard Chinese language,which started from theMay 4th Movement.It is of great significance studying modern Chinese characters.
