Cost-effectiveness analysis of domestic and imported cefepime in treatment of acute urinary infections

Objective To compare the cost-effectiveness between domestic and imported cefepime in the treatment of acute uri- nary infections.Methods One hundred and twenty patients were randomly divided into 2 groups.There were 61 cases in domestic group(A group)and 61 cases in imported group(B group).Principle of pharmacoeconomics was adopted to analyze cost-effective- ness.Results The effective rates of A group and B group were 98.36% and 96.72%,the bacterial eradiction rate both was 100%, and the incidence of adverse reaction was 6.56% and 10.47% respectively.The difference was not significant between two groups (P＞0.05).The cost-effectiveness ratio(C/E)were 4 059.64 and 4 625.45 respectively.The cost for every one unit increment of effectiveness for B group was RMB 29 309.76 yuan more than that of A group.Conclnsion Taking everything into consideration, the economical effects of domestic cefepime was better than imported cefepime in the treatment of acute urinary infections.
