Abstract
Objective:To evaluate the artificial lumbar intervetebral disc replacement for the treatment of discogenic diseases. Methods:Thirty four patients with discogenic diseases were selected according to prescript operational standard used for artificial lumbar disc replacement with SB Charite Ⅲ type. And related evaluations were given after operation. Results:Lumbar intervertebral disc replacements were performed on 41 lumbar disc of 34 cases. With the follow up of averaged 18.6 months (ranged 3~38 months),all of the patients had got satisfactory result. The films showed no instability after operation in 4 cases of lumbar disc herniations combined with instability.Total excellent or good ratio of the results was 90.1%(JOA estimate standard). The extension and flexion scope of L 4~5 showed no significant difference compared with the control group after the lumbar disc replacement operation( P 0.05).The height of intervertebral space and the area intervertebral foramen of 15 cases with Ⅰ~Ⅱ° interverbebral space stenosis got increase after operation, and the difference was very significant compared with preoperation( P 0.01).Conclusion:The lumbar intervetebral disc replacement is very useful in resuming the motion of lumbar spine, the intervetebral foramen area and the lumbar spinal stability.
