Carotid artery color Doppler ultrasonography in patients with ischemic cerebrovascular disease

Objective To study the ultrasonic characteristic of carotid artery in patients with ischemic cerebrovascular disease,and evaluate the examination value of the carotid artery with color Doppler ultrasonography.Methods The color Doppler ultrasonic examination were performed on carotid arteries with 135 patients of ischemic cerebrovascular diseases.The intima-media thickness(IMT),plaque pattern and its echo characteristics as well as flow dynamics of carotid arteries had been detected and analyzed.Results There were 115(85.2 %)carotid atherosclerosis in the 135 patients with ischemic cerebrovascular diseases were diagnosed,the plaques had been noted for 102 cases(75.6%,102/135).Conclusion The results showed the ischemic cerebrovascular disease and atherosclerosis plaques are closely related.Carotid artery diseases can be showed clearly with color Doppler ultrasonography,and will be an important basis for clinical diagnosis and treatment.
