Textual Research on“Lower-ranking Officials”in Han Dynasty

Abstract

There are no strict distinction between officials in Qin and Han Dynasties. According to their salary lev els, they can be divided into high-ranking officials and lower-ranking officials, with the former referring to those of ficials serving in the imperial court and the latter for local governments. Minor officials in history books in the Han Dynasty also refer to those lower-ranking officials, and this mistake started from the Song Dynasty.
