Abstract
Objective To study the changing of bone mineral density and incidence of osteoporosis in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients.Methods Use dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (Lexxos) to measure 62 patients while choosing 70 normal age-matched females as a normal control group. Results Between age of 50 and 70, the bone mineral density of spine and neck in type 2 diabetes group is evidently lower than that in the control group. so as to the bone mineral density of neck and innominat in group after 70 years old. Conclusions Incidence of Osteoporosis in type 2 diabetes patients is higher than that in controllers but there is no significant difference and bone mineral density of type 2 diabetes patients is lower than that of the control group.
