Abstract
Objective: To investigate the effects and mechanisms of calcium dobesilate on serum creatinine(Scr). Methods: Type 2 diabetic rats were randomly divided into control group ( group C) and experimental group ( group D) treated with calcium dobesilate. The serum creatinine (Scr), Protein Kinase C (PKC), angiotensin II (AgII), Creatinine clearance (Ccr), transforming growth factor-beta1 were compared among the groups after 24 weeks. The renal tissue were observed by light microscopy and electron microscopy. Conjugation of Scr and calcium dobesilate was analyzed through mass spectrographic. Results: After 24 weeks, PKC, TGF-β1, Collagen IV, Scr, BUN in group D were significantly lower than the group C, meanwhile, renal pathologic changes in group D improved. Ccr and AgII had no difference between group C and group D. Mass spectrographic analysis proved that the calcium dobesilate can conjugate creatinine. Conclusion: Calcium dobesilate can decrease Scr through ameliorating renal lesions and conjugating creatinine.
