Abstract
The objective reasons of the Great Victory of Wanjialing in Wuhan Campaign are that the Japanese army became an isolated force penetrating deep into our territory because the heads of the army were arrogant and feckless after winning a victory in early days of the war; and that the Japanese army advanced very difficultly because of the war zone being all mountainous; as a result, the army fell into a passive situation. The subjective reasons are that our supreme command made the enemy be surrounded and annihilated by taking the advantage of the enemy’s weak points, and adopting the operatisnal policy of concentrating a superior force to wipe out the enemy one by one. In addition to these, the excellent behavior our army displayed in the war was also the major factor contributing to the great victory.
