Abstract
Objective To evaluate clinical efficacy of ureteroscopic pneumatic lithotripsy for aborted ureteral calculi with extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy(ESWL).Methods Clinical data of 98 cases of ureteral calculi patients treated with ureteroscopic pneumatic lithotripsy after unsuccessful ESWL were analyzed retrospectively.Results Ureteroscopic pneumatic lithotripsy was succeed in 90 cases for the first time with a successful rate of 91.83%(90/98).5 cases had big fragment return kidney.Ureteroscope could not pass through the ureteral stricture to reach the stone in 3 cases.There were no severe surgical complications,such as perforation and avulsion,happened.Among 98 cases,there were 38 cases of polypi and granulation,3 cases of distal ureteral stricture and 8 cases of ureteral distortion.Conclusions Ureteroscopic pneumatic lithotripsy should be considered as the primary treatment for ESWL failed ureteral calculi due to its minimal invasiveness,safety and efficacy.
