Abstract
Zeolite, a new material of chemical industry, used as a catalyst has been widely applied and rapidly developed. In this experiment, ethyl butyrate was synthesized by using man- made zeolite modified with H2SO4 as a catalyst. It showed that using this method, it had the high rate of production, fewer deputy response, lower pollution and so on . At the same time, the effect of some synthetic conditions on the esterification reaction of n- butyric acid with ethyl alcohol were investigated. The appropriate reaction condition were as follows: the amount of catalyst 1/3 g n - butyric acid, mol n - butyric acid: mol ethyl alcohol was 1:1.5, the amount of coclohexane 10 ml/mol n- butyric acid, reaction temperature 75~80℃and reaction time 1 h. The conversion of n - butyric acid obtained under such reaction conditions was over 80 % , and the catalyst can be reused to give almost the same conversion.
