Abstract

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of acupuncture and moxibustion for smoke cessation.Method Sixty patients who were quitting smoking were randomized into a treatment group of 30 cases and a control group of 30 cases. The treatment group was intervened by acupuncture plus moxibustion, and the control group was by acupuncture, and the treatment time was 30 d for both groups. The therapeutic efficacy of smoke cessation was compared between the two groups after 30 d.Result After treatment, the total effective rate was 93.3% in the treatment group versus 73.3% in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P0.05).Conclusion Combination of acupuncture and moxibustion significantly enhances the therapeutic efficacy of quitting smoking, and has better effect than acupuncture alone.
