Abstract
Objective To explore the correlation between the pathogenesis and growth of uterine leiomyoma and serum adiponectin. Methods Leiomyoma, insulin like growth factor 1(IGF-1),estradiol(E2),progesterone and testosterone of 100 patients with uterine leiomyoma(the observed group)and 50 healthy women(the control group)were determined. Results The adiponectin levels of the observed and control groups were 7.37±2.4 and 9.18±3.0 mg/ml,there were significant differences between the two groups(P0.05).With multivariate analysis,E2,IGF-1 and APN were associated with the pathogenesis of uterine leiomyoma.APN was inversely related to E2(r= 0.882)and IGF-1(r=0.773).The adiponectin level in the multi-myoma group(7.19±3.89 mg/ml)was lower than that of the mono-myoma group(7.41±2.97 mg/ml),(P0.05);moreover,with the growth of myoma, the adiponectin level decreased gradually. Conclusions This study suggests that the lower serum adiponectin level might be associated with the pathogenesis of uterine leiomyoma and the growth of myoma, moreover, its mechanism might be dependent on IGF-1 and estrogen.
