Abstract
Objective To study the changes of insulin- like growth factor(IGF)- Ⅰ and IGF- Ⅱ in peripheral blood of patients with uterine leiomyoma and its relation with estrogen receptor(ER) and progestrone receptor(PR) in uterine leiomyoma tissues. Methods 56 patients diagnosed as leiomyoma in the department ofgynecology of the First Affiliated Hospital of Shantou University Medical College from January to September in 2013 were selected as the study group, while 45 healthy women having physical examination over the same period were selected as control group. The levels of IGF- Ⅰ and IGF- Ⅱ in peripheral blood in patients with uterine leiomyoma were determined by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay, and the expression of ER and PR in uterine leiomyoma tissues were determined by immunohistochemistry methods. The relation between the levels of IGF- Ⅰ and IGF- Ⅱ and the expression of ER and PR in uterine leiomyoma tissues was analyzed. Results The levels of IGF- Ⅰ and IGF- Ⅱ in the study group were significantly higher than the control group(P 0.05).The levels of IGF- Ⅰ and IGF- Ⅱ in ER(+) patients were significantly higher than the ER(-) patients(P 0.05).The levels of IGF- Ⅰ and IGF- Ⅱ in PR(+) patients were significantly higher than the PR(-) patients(P 0.05).Correlation analysis showed that the levels of IGF- Ⅰ and IGF- Ⅱ in patients with uterine leiomyoma were positively correlated with ER and PR(P 0.05).Conclusion The occurrence and development of uterine leiomyoma are probably related with the levels of IGF- Ⅰ and IGF- Ⅱ in the peripheral blood of patients, and are also related with the expression of ER and PR.
