Abstract

According to cognitive linguistics,metaphor is a mapping of a source concept on to a target concept,it enables us to understand the unknown or abstract concepts in terms of the concrete objects or experiences we are familiar with and it is one of the powerful cognitive tools for our conceptualization of the world.The use of metaphor in the financial news makes the description of abstract economic definitions and phenomena more vivid and accessible to people.This paper aims at exploring the application of metaphor in the financial news from three different types of metaphor.
